Slit coils
Alpine Stampings slits CRGO and CRNO to the width you specify, from mother coil up to 1250 mm, on its own slitting line at Daman. Every coil is held to the same width tolerance and burr limit, and packed to travel.
A width is a setup rather than a stock item: tell us the width you need and we cut it, and the slit edge is checked for burr before the coil is released.

- Which grades of electrical steel do you work in?
- Alpine Stampings works in CRGO, CRNO and CRCA. CRGO is grain-oriented electrical steel for transformer cores, CRNO is non-oriented electrical steel for rotating machines, and CRCA is cold-rolled close-annealed steel for the non-electrical parts of an assembly.
- What thicknesses can you stamp and slit?
- Alpine Stampings works in thicknesses from 0.20 mm to 1.00 mm. The range available for a given part depends on the grade and the coating, and we confirm availability against your drawing at enquiry.
- What widths do you slit to?
- Alpine Stampings slits CRGO and CRNO to the width you specify, from mother coil up to 1250 mm wide, on its own slitting line at Daman. A width is a setup rather than a stock item. Slit width is held to +0 / −0.1 mm and the slit edge is checked for burr, under 10 microns, before the coil is released.
- How wide can you cut to length?
- Alpine Stampings cuts transformer laminations to length up to 300 mm wide, with holes as required, on its own cut-to-length line at Daman.
- Do you make standard E&I laminations, or only to drawing?
- Both. The standard E and I transformer lamination types Alpine Stampings tools for are listed with their dimensions on the E&I chart, and can be downloaded as a PDF or a spreadsheet. Everything outside that list is made to your drawing.
- Which coatings can you supply?
- Alpine Stampings supplies C3, C3L, C4, C5, C5L, C6 and C6L coatings. The coatings available for a given part depend on the grade and the source mill, and we confirm them at enquiry.
- What tolerances do you hold?
- Alpine Stampings agrees tolerances per part against your drawing and confirms them at first-off inspection. We do not publish a blanket tolerance, because the figure that matters is the one on your drawing.
